The Flash Is Finally Addressing Crisis on Infinite Earths Creating A New Arrowverse Multiverse*

The Flash season 9 finally addresses Crisis on Infinite Earths creating a new Arrowverse multiverse. The Flash season 9 is not only the show's last, but it also serves as the swan song for the Arrowverse as a whole. Ever since original universe-starter series Arrow ended, the Arrowverse has seen multiple shows bow out as they were canceled by The CW, the Arrowverse's network. Only The Flash's final season, and Superman and Lois, which is no longer part of the Arrowverse, continue to air. With The Flash being the last remnant of the Arrowverse, it is up to the show to bring the universe to a satisfying end.
The Arrowverse started with Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen coming home after being missing at sea for five years. In those five years, Oliver trained on a remote island and became the world's greatest archer, who would later take on the mantle of the Green Arrow. Arrow started an entire universe of superheroes, with Grant Gustin's The Flash adding a new element to the Arrowverse. The character was able to not only traverse timelines, but enter the multiverse, which would become a recurring theme of the franchise. A new multiverse was created during Crisis on Infinite Earths, and it has finally been addressed in a new The Flash season 9 trailer.
Crisis On Infinite Earths Ending Created A New Multiverse The Arrowverse's surge of new heroes over the years led to the creation of big, annual, crossover events that took place across different shows. The first of the Arrowverse crossovers that spans several shows was 2016's Invasion! The event saw the use of the multiverse briefly, as The Flash recruited Supergirl from Earth-38 to help fight off the alien invasion by the Dominators. After that, the next crossover, Crisis on Earth-X, would bring forth a large-scale multiverse adventure for the Arrowverse's heroes. Crisis on Earth-X focused on a dark version of the Arrowverse's heroes from a Nazi-controlled Earth trying to steal Supergirl's heart to save their version of Kara, Overgirl.
Crisis on Earth-X was a hit with audiences and critics, with the event's use of the multiverse being a source of praise. The Arrowverse would then start work on its most ambitious crossover ever, an adaptation of one of DC Comics' most iconic stories, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Airing in December 2019 and January 2020, Crisis on Infinite Earths was the full exploration of the multiverse that Arrowverse fans had been begging for. The crossover event included not only the Arrowverse's heroes, but also characters from DC's past movies and TV series. Among the expansive cast were Tom Welling's Clark Kent from Smallville, and Brandon Routh's from Superman Returns.
