Star Wars" First F-Bomb Was Only Cut At The Last Second (But It Was The Right Call)*

The Star Wars franchise would have dropped its first f-bomb in Andor season 1, but Disney chose to cut it at the last second. While Star Wars characters are known to curse occasionally, especially after the movies shifted to a PG-13 rating, strong language has never been a significant aspect of the franchise. Star Wars often prefers to create its own slang terms like "blast it!" which the TV shows have continued with words such as "dank farrik" in The Mandalorian. However, the most adult Star Wars TV show would have changed this had it been allowed to drop an f-bomb at the end of its first season.
The latest report from Variety discusses a swear-word that was cut from Andor. Maarva Andor, played by Fiona Shaw, would have dropped the first Star Wars f-bomb in the prerecorded speech played during her funeral. Instead of telling the citizens of Ferrix to "fight the Empire!" she was initially going to say "f*** the Empire!"
Despite episode director Benjamin Caron and executive producer Tony Gilroy being on board with the idea, Disney had them cut the line. Gilroy was so insistent that he even wrote a legal brief on the subject, but it still wasn't enough to convince Disney to let Andor drop the first Star Wars f-bomb.
